If you run into an Asshole...

If you run into an asshole...
...you ran into an asshole. Shrug it off.

If you run into another asshole, you ran into another asshole. Luck isn’t on your side this day. Don’t get too annoyed, it happens, life goes on.

If you keep running into assholes again and gain though... then you’re the asshole. Something about you causes people to act like jerks today, and you probably started it. Apologize, figure out what’s wrong, and fix your attitude.

Crazy exes

Stop right there! Are you telling me despite the odds, you only came across crazy people? Nah, I don’t believe in fairy tales. The common factor in all your failed relationships is you, my friend. Face the truth and figure out why you’re seeking out those troubled individuals, why you’re the one that’s getting them to do “crazy” things, or why you’re labeling their behavior as crazy, even though they’re most likely very reasonable.

On the bus

When you're triggered

Are you triggered by someone else? Something about the way they talk, how they can’t get their shit together, their stupid hobbies, fake laugh, whatever it might be. Then I’ve got news for you: It takes one to know one.

Meaning that you might be pissed off because you recognize some of your own flaws in them. And since you can’t stand those parts of you, you transfer all that negativity onto them. Could be helpful to keep that in mind. Might make it easier to stay calm, identify things you should work on, or learn to accept about yourself.

There’s exceptions, of course. Some people are just so fucking irritating, they’re the perfect example for why we should keep abortion legal.

What’s the main takeaway?

Don’t be an asshole, obviously. Apart from that:

Stefan Koch

Hi, I'm Stefan...

Creator of Reflection Recipes. I'm a tinkerer in just about every area of my life. Transformation is my passion, whether it's my job, my living environment, or ultimately myself. And in all of those changes, I repeatedly came across one major hurdle: How do you know which parts of your life would benefit from changing? And changing to what exactly? The key to getting useful answers to these very generic questions is another very generic term: Reflection. But anyone that ever sat down, and focused all of their cognitive abilites on answering the big question "What am I gonna do with my life?!" can attest: Reflection is f*****g hard! While I can't give you the answers you seek directly, I have collected, tested, and adapted a plethora of reflection methods over the years. And I will gladly share these "Reflection Recipes" with you! There is a clever nod to my last name "Koch" (German for "cook") in there. At least I think it's clever. Way too proud of that one...
